Mali Water and Disabilities Study/Latrines and Domestic Water Use


Summary

Purpose statement

To partner with native Malians in developing context-specific aids for persons with disabilities and with difficulties in water access and use. This subteam's focus is domestic use of water, including dishwashing, laundry, bathing, latrines, and transportation of small volumes of water.

Goals

  • Ascertain range and distribution of disabilities in Tominion region
  • Provide suggestions to World Vision Mali to make their latrines and laundry pads more widely accessible
  • Collaborate with World Vision, Handicap International, and village inhabitants to suggest methods of improvement to water access and use in other areas around the home
  • Focus on the needs of a few individuals, developing technologies and offering suggestions specific to their situations
