User Page
Each user on the Wiki has a user page. This is a place for personal notes created by or for that user, messaging and discussion between users, and to house links to pages that might not fit elsewhere on the Wiki. To access a user page, click on the link at the bottom of a user's member page, or search for User:Wikilogon (i.e. User:Jsmith).
How is a user page different from a member page?
A member page is your official profile within the Collaboratory. Member pages use a standardized format and contain similar information. A user page, on the other hand, is your personal workspace. You can arrange it however you like, as long as it conforms to the guidelines presented here. Please don't put your member page on your user page; the two pages are different.
What belongs on my user page?
You should view your user page as a personal homepage on the Wiki. You can store information about yourself, a collection of links, some blog-like content, images, and any other manner of nonsense. Your userpage need not be official looking or sounding (this will be accomplished by your member page), but you are responsible for the content that you post.
What does not belong on my user page?
You should think of your user page as your own personal domain on the Wiki, but the user page and any subpages are publicly accessible. This means that you should never post private information about yourself or anybody/anything else on your userpage.
How do I leave messages for users?
If you would like to leave a message for a user, visit their user page, and click the "discussion" tab at the top. Any new comments that you add to the discussion page will trigger a notification to the user that new messages have arrived. This is a nice way to communicate on the wiki without using email!
How do I create pages in my user namespace?
The user namespace is a great place to house pages which are of a more personal nature and do not fit elsewhere on the Wiki. It is important to note that these pages are not private, just organized seperately. To create a page in your user namespace, name the page according to the following format:
- [[User:Wikilogon/Article name]]
