Purpose Statement

The Marketing Team seeks to communicate the mission of the Collaboratory to fellow students, alumni, families, businesses, and churches through professional material including videos, presentations, newsletters, and brochures. As part of the Collaboratory's mission includes understanding our clients, the Marketing team seeks to be a resource of accessible knowledge by teaching, demonstrating, and writing about important issues such as cultural differences, personal stories, key updates, and transformational development movements.

Relational Marketing Short Term Goals:

  1. Solar Scholars: Work with Solar Scholars and Messiah College's marketing and PR offices to inform the campus and the general public about the solar panel installation.
  2. Contact Agape Center to plan/learn about ways the Collaboratory can get involved with local service projects.
    1. E-mail Rebecca Owen, local community service director, to get information about specific projects where the Collaboratory can help.
  3. Research both local and nationwide businesses that share similar visions or employ similar technologies.
    1. Research online and obtain contact information.
  4. Contact and/ or visit local area churches to personally acquaint congregations with the Collaboratory’s purpose and project updates.
    1. Compile list of local area churches; send out donor packets.
    2. Follow up with a phone call and ask if churches would like and allow us to talk first hand about what the Collaboratory is doing.
    3. Continue to update churches throughout the year through phone calls and newsletters, especially if members donate money to certain initiatives within the Collaboratory.
  5. Plan and set up a sponsored event on campus. Hosted by the Collaboratory, students can meet and mingle with members of the Collaboratory to hear first hand about projects and the student members in general. There will be free food, music, games, and possibly, an all-engineer talent show.
    1. Contact Charlotte Knudsen, conference and event coordinator, and discuss ideas for a campus event. Request a room: complete a Facility Reservation Request Form.
    2. Market the event: construct posters and post around campus.
    3. Coordinate program/agenda and food services.
  6. Contact Media Services/Administration about constructing and setting up television slide in Boyer that publicizes the Collaboratory, meeting times, and present/future project endeavors.
  7. Missionary Contact
    1. Compile general information about current events within the Collaboratory.
    2. Determine specific prayer requests and/or blessings within the Collaboratory.
    3. Compose a letter for the missionaries (Burkina Faso, Mozambique, etc.) with whom the Collaboratory works relaying current happenings as well as prayer requests.
    4. Send out a Missionary Contact letter at least once a month starting October 8.
  8. Provide newsfeeds to Messiah College's Marketing & PR Office.

Long-term Goals

Publications

  1. The newsletter will maintain a high level of quality and its professional image. As the Collaboratory continues to expand, the Publications staff will need to grow in order to more completely cover all aspects of the organization.
  2. Publications will work with the Marketing Team leader to keep the content of the website complete and up-to-date.

Advertising

Relational Marketing

  1. To prepare and present an Alternate Chapel
  2. The Collaboratory Cube
  3. To prepare and hold a fund raising event for the Collaboratory (particularly the staff group).
    1. Sell homemade baked goods, hold talent show or contest, sell the Collaboratory tattoos.
    2. Contact Charlotte Knudsen, conference and event coordinator, to get event passed.
    3. Market the event: construct posters and post around campus.
    4. Assign baked goods to be made, application group members and staff to work information tables, selling tables, and members to participate in and/or administer contests/talent shows.
